My Grandpa's brothers wife, worked for Ozark Airlines as well as her friend Judy. That is how I know Judy! Judy and her husband missed flying so much that they purchased a Douglas C-47. It is the Worlds Oldest Flying C-47 in the World. We have SO MUCH FUN flying around to all the different air shows. The Last Time was a great experience for me because I am younger. I had so much fun at The Last Time, & Oshkosh Airventure! It was one of the most great experiences of my life!!

When you had your Rock Falls fly in we in Polo, IL were having a funeral for a Marine killed in action and two of your planes fly over with the missing plane formation. The mother of that Marine want to send you a note of gratitude, where can she send it and to whose attention? As our heroic C-47 veteran taxied at Rock Falls for take off that Monday July 26, I could see countless whirling propellers of more than twenty 3s / 47s taking their turn behind us and I savored the precious rare sight as one of the finest of my life. Once airborne, the gaggle gathered and the formation began to take shape. It tightened ever-so gradually as each crew garnered confidence on each other's ability to close ranks. The exhileration of the extraordinary event is difficult to describe. Outside our window I could wave thumbs-up to Oshkosh-bound warbirds in their D-Day white stripes like ours. I could hardly keep my eyes dry at the thought of what if must have felt like to be on this very same bird dropping troops over France in a June 1944 pre-dawn, only that it was Summertime 2010 and none of us were getting shot at.

After months or planning to be at Oshkosh, my wife was in the hospital for 10 days, released on July 28th under the care of Hospice. I could not leave her so all planning was down the drain. Today, she is resting peacefully in her own bed with a steady stream of visitors. Just wanted folks who were looking for me to know the reason. J.C.
